Family Journey

Our family has embarked upon a new journey.  Not only have we started upon the journey that God has laid before us, but now we (as a family) are preparing our bodies for the journey.  We have joined Weight Watcher’s together.  I am so excited about this part, because Jim has jumped right on the wagon and has been encouraging to Katie and me.  Our 1st weigh in will be this Thursday, April 3, and my prayer is that we have all lost something.  I hope that Jim has lost enough to keep him motivated to stick with it and that Katie has lost enough to show her that hard work can pay off when you really stick with it.  I would ask that each of you would be in prayer for the journey that we have embarked upon.  (The weight loss as well as our journey to further the Kingdom.)

If you are coming to our house on Thursday night, we will be there, so don’t leave if you get there before 7.  We will be having a dish called “Ropa Viejo” for the adults (along with Guacamole and Pico, with Tortillas) and some finger food “snacks” for the kids (veggies and tortilla-ham and cheese-rolls with dip).  We can’t wait to share our time of fellowship with you.  We so look forward to this time of growth in our week.

I would like to say thank you to these men who have been such an encouragement to Jim during his time of growth- Mike, Buddy, Kenneth, and John (Newman and Cross)- you will never fully understand the impact that you have had on him (and our family).  My prayer of thanksgiving is that God pour out blessings upon you the same way that you have poured them out upon Jim.   And, to the families of these men, may God continue to bless the leader of your home.

Well, that is all for now.  Let me leave you with this thought:  “When we fail to see all the blessings that God has poured out, we fail to recognize God.”  (I pray that may eyes will always be open!)

  1. Traci,

That is so exciting! I only dream of the day that our whole family will embark on a journey to improve our health together. Whenever a few of us are ready, the other ones are still pulling out the Blue Bell and Cheetos. It’s a crazy thing! So, we will be praying for you all. Maybe your success will rub off on us!! By the way, I have 3 friends who praise the Weight Watcher program — they have each lost anywhere from 50-100 pounds.

We continue to lift your family up in prayer. You all mean so much to us. Thank you for being such great friends and family in the Lord!

    We’ll see you Thursday,

    julie

Thanks so much for the encouragement. Last week at WW, we were able to share in someone, that we have known since my Wal-Mart days, reach Lifetime member. She has taken off 198 pounds! I think that this kind of gave Jim a little boost of encouragement. Thanks for all of the prayers and I will continue to pray that everyone is one day ready to “put away the BB and Cheetos”!!!
Don’t tell anyone, but dinner on Thursday is a healthy meal!!! Make sure that y’all are hungry.

    Thanks, Traci

  3. Traci,
The english translation for that dish you’re serving is “old rope”. If that is the new diet then I am sure that you guys will be successful. I guess the advantage is that after the meal is done, atleast you won’t have to floss.

Looking forward to seeing ya’ll. We love you guys.

  4. I’m so glad that you clarified that up for me, I understood that the translation was “old clothes” and I was really worried about that one! ;) Make sure that you bring your appetite, the recipe somewhat reminds me of barbacoa (with the exception that I am not making it with “tongue”). Talk to you tonight.

  5. yes traci, you are correct, the translation is “old clothes” . Buddy is having some issues with his memory right now…like last Sunday when he led the whole congregation in singing happy anniversary to me…even though our anniversary isn’t for another 2 weeks. He has SO much on his plate, so we have to forgive him for these little errors…we love you Buddy!
We can’t wait for lifegroup tonight @ your house!!! I love hanging out @ your house and eating your wonderful cooking.
Remember if I am ever a millionaire, you have promised to let me hire you as my personal chef!!! I love you girl.

  6. Thanks for having us over for study and supper Thur. night. It was a great time!

  7. We are praying for the revival this week!

  8. I’m so proud of you guys! You are doing well on your diets.
